I just joined today and I wanted share my experience with everyone
I am in Texas right now we are possibly moving to the Louisiana area in the near future.
I am the mother of a 3 year old son (August 2002), he recently started PDD classes 3 weeks ago, right now the prognosis is severe speech and developmental delays. He will be evalauted for Autism in November. My son doesn't say anything yet, he did start out saying a few words when he was about a year old. But after that it just stopped, he communicates by either grabbing your hand and making you follow him to whatever it is he needs or wants. He has an Oral Fixation and constantly has to have something in his mouth, he is also a thumb sucker so this could be a reason too. So when he plays with toys , that is the first place they go. We called on the services of ECI(Early Childhoon Intervention) this summer around July, We waited because you know the saying , "Every child develops at his or her own rate" and since he was a late walker as well, we thought perhaps that was the case. The school he goes to is great and if we move I will be sad to leave it because it is a special education school only and there are no public school children there at all.
Thank you to the person who made this community, and I look forward to being a part of it. Its nice to know something like this is around because right now in all honesty and what I have been told by the people working with him, it scares me a little.
